Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma meet Sir Gary Sobers
Team India is scheduled to play two Tests, three ODIs and five-T20I series against West Indies in July and August.
Before the start of the actions, captain Rohit Sharma and star batter Virat Kohli had the privilege of meeting former Windies legend Sir Garfield Sobers during India’s first practice session at Kensington Oval.
BCCI shared a video of the memorable incident with the caption, “In Barbados & in the company of greatness! #TeamIndia meet one of the greatest of the game - Sir Garfield Sobers.”
Along with Rohit and Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ajinkya Rahane, Shardul Thakur and Shubman Gill, were also seen in the video greeting the former West Indies cricketer who was accompanied by his better half.
Head Coach and batting great Rahul Dravid was seen accompanying the players and individually introducing them to Sobers. Dravid introduced Shubman Gill as ‘one of India’s young and most exciting batsmen’. He also encouraged the likes of Shardul Thakur to come and greet Sir Garfield.

Rohit and Kohli were also seen conversing animatedly with Sobers. Former West Indian great Brian Lara took to his Instagram to upload a story about the incident and appreciate the moment.
Notably, on 31 August 1968, Sobers became the first batsman ever to hit six sixes in a single over of six consecutive balls in first-class cricket.
