India’s run machine Virat Kohli is unarguably one of the finest players in the cricketing world. He is often compared to Sachin Tendulkar, Pakistan’s Babar Azam, and many other players. The comparison between Babar and Kohli is one of the biggest topics of debate.

Even though Virat has more records and started playing earlier in 2008, the comparisons between these two batting legends have been frequent. Especially, loyal fans often end up getting into head debates about who is the best.

Now, Afghanistan star batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz has finally ended the debate by giving his opinion. Answering who plays the best cover drive – Virat or Babar, the Afghanistan opener picked Kohli over Babar.

While both Virat and Babar pulled off the cover drive very nicely, Gurbaz picked up Kohli and said that he was the best. Looking into other records, Kohli is far ahead of Babar in terms of matches played and runs scored in Test cricket. He has scored 8676 runs in 111 Tests, compared to Babar’s 3772 runs in 49 Test matches.

In ODIs, Kohli became the fastest player to score 13000 runs, and Babar is the fastest player to reach 5000 ODI runs. Virat has hit a staggering 50 centuries while Babar has only 19 centuries. Kohli also has a higher strike rate of 93.62 compared to Babar’s 88.75.

Kohli achieved the milestone by passing over Sachin Tendulkar’s record on his 35th birthday during the 2023 World Cup.

On the professional front, Virat Kohli is currently on an indefinite break from white-ball cricket and will join the Indian team for the two Tests against South Africa.
