In a bid to promote cricket across the globe and explore future possibilities, International Cricket Council (ICC) is keen to allot the game’s most valuable property-India vs Pakistan game to USA during the T20 World Cup 2024.

Following a Chief Executives Committee (CEC) meeting of the ICC, it was decided that the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) will continue to remain the primary host of the tournament. However, some of the matches including the high-voltage game between India and Pakistan will be allotted to the United States.

Notably, USA Cricket has bought time to resolve its internal mess. They have also appointed an elected body by way of a proper ballot in order to remain in the fray and host matches during the T20 World Cup 2024.

As per sources, the full member (WICB) signed the host agreement with the associate member. However, they will receive all the benefits of hosting.

As part of the process to expand cricket across the globe, ICC wanted to take World Cups to new territories and well-established markets in order to help deliver on the overarching strategic aim of growing the game.

However, the move to give a big-ticket tournament to a region that is clearly not prepared yet continues to raise question marks.
