Though former CSK player Suresh Raina has earlier revealed that team captain MS Dhoni may continue in IPL 2024 depending on his performances and fitness level in IPL 2023, former off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has a different view.

As per Bhajji, Dhoni will retire from the cash-rich Indian Premier League in his own way just like he did with India’s Test captaincy and international cricket.

“He is MS Dhoni. Whatever he does, it will be pretty much different. If he is going to leave, he will do it very suddenly. We saw how he left India’s Test captaincy in the same fashion,” said Harbhajan during his recent interview to a sports channel.

“But Dhoni always wanted to finish his career in front of CSK fans. That’s very close to him. He wanted to retire in front of them, and that’s a great thing that he thinks of the fans,” Bhajji added.

Dhoni will be leading Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2023.

Earlier yesterday, Dhoni’s former CSK teammate and all-time best performer Raina had hinted that it could be promising batter Ruturaj Gaikwad who takes over the leadership reins from Dhoni.

Dhoni, popularly known as ‘Captain Cool’, has been part of the CSK team since the inaugural IPL season in 2008 and led the franchise to title glory four times in 2010, 2011, 2018, and 2021.
