Former India captain Virat Kohli has disappointed his fans and the team management because of his dismal show in the ongoing T20 World Cup. The star batsman has so far managed to score only 29 runs across four innings, averaging a dismal 7.25 in the marquee event.

In response, former India batsman Aakash Chopra has revealed the reason behind Kohli’s poor show in the mega event. According to Chopra, Kohli’s poor performance at the T20 World Cup 2024 is due to his overly aggressive batting approach.

“The pitch in New York is the main reason behind it. It’s been tough for him to bat on that pitch, so he’s determined to play one way. It is stated that Virat Kohli faces fewer external challenges,” said Chopra.

The former cricketer is of the opinion that players like Kohli always seek out new challenges and maintain their strategy even after a few setbacks.

“The pitch in New York was tough to bat on and dictated that you had to play patiently, almost like a Test, regardless if 120 is being scored. But it was not at all how he thought. His game is based more around his mindset than conditions and technique, he declared that he would only play one way,” said Chopra.
