Third day of Shodasha Upachara Puja observed at Shakti Peeths across Odisha

The third day of the Shodasha Upachara Puja was observed with devotion across prominent Shakti Peeths in Odisha on Tuesday. The sixteen-day ritual dedicated to the Goddess is being performed with special mantra chanting and elaborate observances, drawing large numbers of devotees.

The third day of the Shodasha Upachara Puja was observed with devotion across prominent Shakti Peeths in Odisha on Tuesday. The sixteen-day ritual dedicated to the Goddess is being performed with special mantra chanting and elaborate observances, drawing large numbers of devotees.

At the Cuttack Chandi Temple, the presiding deity Maa Chandi was adorned in Bhubaneswari Besha after special rituals. She will be seen in a new attire in the evening.

Similarly, at Gada Chandi Temple, the Goddess was worshipped in Saraswati Besha. Various Shakti Peeths including Maa Biraja in Jajpur, Maa Mangala in Kakatpur, Maa Tara Tarini in Ganjam and Maa Charchika in Banki are conducting independent pujas. Each peeths are resonating with chants and rituals as devotees flock to seek blessings.

Devotee Sentiments

The atmosphere at the temples has turned vibrant as devotees throng in large numbers for darshan. Expressing his emotions, one devotee said, “I feel extremely grateful that I got to have darshan of Maa Cuttack Chandi. I just hope that Maa Cuttack Chandi’s temple renovation is done soon.”

Administrative Arrangements

With renovation work at the Cuttack Chandi Temple delayed and heavy rainfall on Monday causing waterlogging in the premises, concerns were raised about inconvenience to worshippers. The local administration, however, intervened and made necessary arrangements to ensure smooth darshan for the devotees.

The Shodasha Upachara Puja will continue for sixteen days, with each day marking a unique ritual and distinct attire of the Goddess, keeping alive centuries-old traditions across Odisha’s revered Shakti Peeths.
