Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selection committee is all set to announce the 15-member preliminary squad for the upcoming ODI Cricket World Cup 2023 in Mumbai on Tuesday.

The upcoming mega event will be played in India and it will start in Ahmedabad on October 5.

The biggest concern in the team selection will be the injury of senior batsman KL Rahul. Rahul is expected to play the dual role of wicketkeeper and batsman in absence of explosive wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant due to injury in a car accident.

As per reports, Rahul is now fully fit and he will be soon available for the ongoing Asia Cup. Rhul’s availability means Sanju Samson – who is part of the reserves in the 18-member team for Asia Cup 2023 – will miss out on selection.

Moreover, there will also be a toss up between pacer Prasidh Krishna and all-rounder Shardul Thakur for the fourth seamer’s berth after Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami.

Promising Tilak Varma who was in brilliant form in West Indies series and selected in the team for the ongoing Asia Cup, may miss out on selection for the upcoming ODI World Cup.
