Team India’s aggressive wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan opted out of the team ahead of the series against South Africa, citing mental fatigue. Ishan is yet to make himself available for selection.

Meanwhile, as per reports in some sections of media, Ishan was upset with Jitesh Sharma’s selection in T20Is, that can eventually complicate his place in the playing XI.

The aggressive cricketer hasn’t turned up for Jharkhand in the Ranji Trophy yet. He is currently training with Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya in Baroda. He is most likely to make his return during the upcoming edition of the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL).

Promising batter Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma are currently the favourite to open for India. Moreover, with senior batter like Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav in ranks, there is no room for Ishan on the top of the order. As a result, the team management backed Jitesh, who can play blistering knocks lower down the order. As per reports, Kishan didn’t like the move and wanted to be out of the squad.

Moreover, Team India head coach Rahul Dravid has confirmed that Kishan will not be considered for the remaining three Test matches against England as he is yet to play professional cricket after leaving South Africa. Though Dravid has advised Kishan to play Ranji Trophy, he continues to defy the head coach.
