Rohit Sharma
Mumbai Indians (MI) camp was reportedly disturbed during the 2024 edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) as the entire team wasn’t happy about their new captain Hardik Pandya. Moreover, former captain Rohit Sharma was also not happy with the team setup.
Several reports were published in some sections of the media that Rohit may leave Mumbai Indians for IPL 2025.
Meanwhile, five-time IPL champions MI have a tough job ahead figuring out which players to retain before the IPL mega auction. As per sources, MI will definitely do their best to convince Rohit to stay. The aggressive opener has been a huge contributor and a five-time IPL winner for them. Moreover, Rohit is currently in the form of his life in white ball cricket.
As per the new rule, BCCI might allow franchises to retain as many as six players from their squad. Apart from Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya, MI are likely to retain Rohit Sharma though they have to shell out more money for him.
Though Rohit’s form was poor during IPL 2024, he has a tendency of rising to the occasion in big matches. This could be the reason why MI are likely to convince Rohit and retain him in the team for IPL 2025.
