India have so far played with the same XI in all of their group stages in the ongoing T20 World Cup. The Men in Blue are expected to make a change for the first time against Afghanistan in their upcoming match of the marquee event.

As the Indian team will tour to the Caribbean, spinners are expected to play a great role. India’s best spinner, Kuldeep Yadav, has yet to play a game in the ongoing T20 World Cup. It is expected that the chinaman spinner will get his first opportunity in this T20 World Cup in the India vs Afghanistan Super 8 match at the Kensington Oval.

According to former World Cup winners Kris Srikkanth, Mohammed Siraj will be the one who’ll miss out, and Kuldeep will take his place.

“If I were a captain, Kuldeep Yadav would have to play, and Mohammed Siraj could be dropped in his place. I think wrist spinners are match-winners. You saw Adam Zampa do it for Australia, and Tabraiz Shamsi did it for South Africa,” said Srikkanth.

Throwing his weight behind Srikkanth, former India spinner Piyush Chawla said, “It’s going to be a toss-up between Arshdeep Singh and Siraj. The way Arshdeep bowled, I think Siraj will have to make way for Kuldeep.”
