With the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack buckling up to host the inaugural ceremony of the FIH Hockey World Cup 2022, the district administration has barred plying of heavy vehicles carrying minor minerals from January 1 midnight till January 12 midnight.

The opening ceremony of the Hockey World Cup will be held on January 11 at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack.

An order in this connection was released by the Cuttack DM, Bhabani Shankar Chayani on Monday.

Chayani stated, “As there will be movement of many eminent personalities, VIPs and VVIPs during the opening ceremony to and from Barabati stadium on January 11, the plying of trucks, tractors, tippers carrying sand, chips, stones and bricks have been prohibited from January 1 till January 12 for their safety.”

The restriction which has been imposed under the Motor Vehicle Act 115 section 173, will remain in effect for all 24 hours of the day.

As per the order, the restrictions will be imposed in Cuttack city and the road connecting up to Bhubaneswar.
