Legendary Brazilian forward Ronaldo feels that Lionel Messi’s Argentina are not favourites to lift the FIFA World Cup 2022 title.

The World Cup winner, who is currently at Qatar for the mega event, said that despite all the hype, he did not back Argentina to win the tournament.

With Brazil getting knocked out of the tournament, Ronaldo backed France to win the title.

“Since the beginning, my prediction has always been Brazil and France in the final. Brazil are no longer there. But France, match after match, are backing up their status as favourites and I still see them as the big favourites,” said Ronaldo.

The semi-final line-ups were decided after France defeated England in the final quarters match in the tournament. The defending champions were drawn against a spirited Moroccan team, who beat all odds to become the first African nation to reach the semi-finals of the tournament. Ronaldo was awed by the journey of this team and said that this was football’s gift.

“It’s a great football story that an African team is in the semi-finals of a World Cup. I saw the reactions in Morocco. What football gives us is very beautiful,” the former player further said.
