Argentina’s star goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has been facing harsh criticism for his actions and bad gesture with Kylian Mbappe.

Martinez has been grabbing the headlines ever since his side defeated France in the high-octane FIFA World Cup final in Qatar.

Martinez was seen making a crude gesture after winning the Golden Glove trophy, awarded to the best goalkeeper at the tournament. The Argentina goalkeeper was seen holding a baby toy with Mbappe’s face on it during their side’s victory parade back home.

As per reports, French Football Federation President Noel Le Graet has lodged a formal complaint with Argentina Football Association (AFA) over Martinez making fun of Mbappe during the victory parade of Argentina.

“I wrote to my counterpart from the Argentine Federation. I find these excesses abnormal, in the context of a sports competition, and I find it difficult to understand. This is going too far. Mbappe’s behavior has been exemplary,” said Le Graet.

French sports minister Amelie Oudea-Castera was also serious about Martinez’s conduct on Friday.

“I find it pitiful. It’s just vulgar, inappropriate, really not up to the occasion. This Emiliano Martinez is not distinguishing himself. It is rather pathetic,” said Amelie.

Notably, Martinez made a key save to deny Randal Kolo Muani in extra-time. Then he denied Kingsley Coman in a penalty shoot-out in Qatar as Argentina beat France in the thrilling summit clash.
