ICC Champions Trophy
In a major development, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has approved the hybrid model for the upcoming Champions Trophy. Also, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), in principle, have agreed that in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, the Men In Green won't visit India for India Vs Pakistan league stage match and it will be played in Colombo. Notably, the T20 World Cup 2026 is set to be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
According to reports, India will be playing their league matches of the Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai.
In Addition, PCB will not receive any extra compensation for agreeing to the hybrid model but they will get to host an ICC Women’s tournament after 2027.
The Emirates Cricket Board was closely monitoring the situation, with sources suggesting that hosting India's matches in Dubai is almost certain.
However, there will be no compensation for the PCB for missing the opportunity to host India matches.
The 2025 Champions Trophy is scheduled to take place from February 19 to March 9, with eight teams divided into two groups. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals, followed by the final.
However, India who are the current World T20 Champions will be hoping to add another silverware in the trophy cabinet in the upcoming Champions Trophy.
