In what could be considered a big confession, former legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar said that pace bowling sensation Umran Malik is the only player after Sachin Tendulkar that he wanted to see play for India.
The little master is the latest cricketer to confess his admiration for the Jammu and Kashmir-born pacer.
“One player I am most excited to see playing for India after Sachin Tendulkar is Umran Malik,” said the former batting great during an interview.
The tearaway pacer from Jammu and Kashmir has been creating waves in international cricket, all thanks to his amazing speed.
Following his brilliant show in the Indian Premier League, he was fast-tracked into the Indian mix. Despite not getting ample opportunities, Umran has created a reputation for himself with his pace.
Notably, Umran made his ODI debut for India against New Zealand recently. After initially not being part of the squad during the Bangladesh series, the pacer replaced Mohammed Shami who unfortunately got ruled out because of a shoulder injury.
Umran produced a peach of a delivery to dismiss Bangladesh’s Najmul Hossain Shanto in the second ODI at the Sher-e-Bangla International Stadium in Mirpur on Wednesday.
The pace sensation showcased his raw pace once again as he uprooted Shanto’s off-stump with an excellent delivery.
