The ‘timed out’ dismissal controversy of former Sri Lanka captain and veteran all-rounder Angelo Mathews during the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 is showing no signs of abating.

A couple of days after the development, Angelo’s brother Trevin Mathews has issued a stern warning to Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan.

Trevin firmly stated that Shakib is not welcome in Sri Lanka in any capacity whatsoever.

“We are very disappointed. The Bangladeshi captain has no sportsman spirit and did not show humanity in the gentleman’s game. Shakib is not welcome in Sri Lanka,” said Trevin during a recent interview.

“If he comes here to play any international or the LPL matches, stones will be thrown at him or he will have to face the annoyance of fans,” he added.

Notably, Bangladesh are slated to embark on a tour of Sri Lanka in 2025. This tour will have two Test matches, three One Day Internationals (ODIs), and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).
