Launching a broadside against the Biju Janata Dal (BJD)-led government in Odisha, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday said the Modi government is carrying out things at lightning speed.

He said the State government should come and join the development process instead of targeting the Union government citing neglect.

Pradhan, while hitting out at the State government from the dais sharing with Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw and Pralhad Joshi among others at Bhubaneswar on the occasion of the foundation stone laying of redevelopment of Bhubaneswar Railway Station, said the Railways Minister’s assurance for a third MEMU train to Bhadrak came within one and a half hour of Dhamnagar MLA Suryavanshi Suraj raising the demand with the Railways Minister.

"This is the lightning speed of the Modi government and Ashwini Vaishnaw’s new charisma,” Pradhan said.

Highlighting all the benefits the State is receiving due to the changes brought by Modi government, Pradhan said, “Even after this, if someone says with political animosity in mind that Odisha is not in the focus of the national parties, I have nothing to do but to remain mum and bow to Lord Jagannath,” he said.

Union Minister Joshi also seized the opportunity to target the BJD-led government. He said, “Odisha’s revenue from mining in 2014-15 was Rs 5000 crore. Now it is Rs 50,000 crore. This is possible due to the changes made in the auction process, Modiji’s direction and his perspective to have a corruption-free India."

On the occasion of laying the foundation stone of redevelopment of Bhubaneswar Railway Station, the Railways Minister flagged off Puri-Jaleswar-Puri passenger MEMU train.

Notably, the Bhubaneswar Railway station will be upgraded on par with world-class airports with all modern and world-class facilities at a project cost of a whopping Rs 308 crore. The Railways department has decided to complete the project in 24 months.
