Days after Barabati-Cuttack MLA Mohammad Moquim blamed the state Congress leadership for the Padampur by-election debacle, the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) has urged its leaders to refrain from making any comments in the media and warned of disciplinary action.

The State Congress spokesperson, Sudarshan Das said, “We urge those leaders, who are spewing venom against the party, to refrain from making such comments in the media and outside if they have faith in the ideologies of the party.”

Das further said that if any leader has something to say or discuss, he/she should discuss it at the appropriate forum.

It is pertinent to mention here that several leaders including Mohammad Moquim had launched a scathing attack on the leadership post Padampur bypoll debacle. Congress MLA Mohammad Moquim had earlier said, "NOTA votes and Congress vote share in Padampur are almost similar."

Moquim had also stated, “People are not willing to vote for Congress by seeing the so called senior leader. Whenever there is a by-election, it is creating a golden opportunity for leaders in the party to transfer Congress votes and mint money. The party is facing such problems due to leadership issues.”

Taking serious note of such statements, the Congress spokesperson clearly said, “We had sought a show-cause notice in the past and the party is taking appropriate disciplinary action, and it will continue to take such action.”
