BJP terms Naba Das’ killing as ‘arranged murder’, Congress cautions BJD leaders against same fate

Expressing their dissatisfaction in unison, Opposition Congress and BJP in Odisha on Wednesday put question marks on the ongoing investigation into the high-profile Naba Das murder case.

As per All India Congress Committee (AICC) Odisha in-charge A Chellakumar, those who are raising their voices are being suppressed under Naveen Patnaik-led BJD government’s rule. He also warned other leaders of BJD that they may face fate similar to late Minister Naba Das.

“Today Naba Das is murdered, tomorrow some other BJD leaders will face the same consequence. Voices are being suppressed under Naveen Patnaik’s rule in the State,” said Chellakumar.

“I have seen the video during Naba Das’ murder. There seems to be a conspiracy behind the murder and the ASI is not the only person who has been involved in the case,” he said.

The senior Congress leader also said that he has no faith in the investigation process.

“BJD is resorting to hooliganism in the State. A coterie group is running the Chief Minister like a puppet. Congress will raise issues like deteriorating law and order situation, Naba Das murder case, corruption, chit fund and mining scam in the upcoming Assembly session,” said Chellakumar.

BJP leader Pradip Purohit also slammed the ruling BJD over Naba Das murder case.

“There is a huge conspiracy behind the murder. I have also told earlier that the conspiracy has been made by others who want to capture power after Naveen Patnaik,” said Purohit.

Purohit also alleged that Crime Branch officials are acting as shields for the persons who are involved in the conspiracy.

Meanwhile, senior BJP leader Bijoy Mohapatra alleged that Naba Das’ murder is an arranged murder.

“Accused Gopal Das has met Naba many times earlier. Then the question arises why didn’t Gopal kill him earlier. The investigation is now confined to Gopal which is why there is no headway. Truth behind the murder is being hidden,” said Mohapatra.

“Naba’s business rivals and friends have not been quizzed yet. Gopal was undertaking orthopedic treatment. There is doubt about Gopal’s unstable condition. The motive behind the murder is yet to be revealed even after 15 days. It seems as if Gopal himself is investigating him,” he added.
