Rourkela: Six members of an inter-state gang of miscreants were arrested in a joint operation by Orissa and Jharkhand police and two rifles, five stolen motor-bikes and mobiles seized from them, police said on Wednesday.

The gang members, mostly from Chaibasa of neighbouring Jharkhand posing as Maoists, were involved in several criminal activities like highway robbery, snatching and burglary in Bonai sub-division of Orissa`s Sundargarh district.

Sahu with the help of Chaibasa police raided several hideouts and arrested the gang members, including two miscreants involved in crimes in Chaibasa, police said.

While four miscreants were brought to Rourkela to be produced before a judicial court here and rest two were taken to Chaibasa, the sources said.
