A 67-million-year-old skeleton of a huge dinosaur identified as Tyrannosaurus Rex was sold for a whopping Rs 5.5 million Swiss Francs which equals to Rs 49.3 crore. Interestingly, the winning bid was made by an anonymous bidder.

The Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton was sold at an auction in Zurich, Switzerland. The huge Tyrannosaurus Rex dinosaur used to roam the Earth 67 million years ago.

It was called the TRX-293 TRINITY and was comprised of 293 bones from three separate T-Rexs discovered between 2008 and 2023 in Montana and Wyoming, United States. 

Sharing the news, Koller auctions, Switzerland’s biggest auction house, wrote on Instagram, “This part of Trinity’s journey is over. After an exciting auction afternoon with many visitors and media, the hammer fell. TRX 293 is sold for CHF 5.5 Million. Thank you all for participating and cheering her on. It was an exciting and amazing time!”

Koller auctions also stated in a statement that this was just the third time in the world that a whole T-Rex skeleton of such a high condition has been presented at the sale.

Worth mentioning, Sue and Stan, two additional North American T-Rex replicas, were sold for $8.4 million and $31 million in 1998 and 2020 respectively.
