If everything goes well, devotees may no longer have to wait for long hours in queues for their turn to enter Puri Srimandir.

The hardship devotees are enduring to enter Srimandir is known to all. Many must have experienced them as well. The most excruciating part is to wait for hours in serpentine queues.

If everything goes as planned, they may not have to wait for long hours for their turn to enter the 12th-century shrine.

Devotees may register their slots well in advance to offer prayers to deities in Srimandir to avoid standing in lines.

However, the proposal is in a nascent stage.

Informing about the plan during an exclusive interview with OTV, Puri Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deba said a proposal for online registration of slots for entering the shrine has been given.

“There will be a slot-wise entry into the shrine. If you want to go to Srimandir, why you should stand in a queue when you are well aware that you have to wait for three hours. Instead, you will get a slot using your mobile phone. Suppose, you want a slot at 10 AM and the particular slot has been filled up and you are given 1 PM slot. Then, you will visit other places and enter the reception center at the given time. From there, you will proceed for darshan,” said Puri Gajapati.
