Cuttack boy Sambhab Mishra is on cloud nine after being conferred with the Rashtriya Bal Puraskar-2023. He received the award from President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi on Monday.

In an exclusive interview with OTV, Sambhab said, “I had a brief interaction with the President Droupadi Murmu who greeted and congratulated me in Odia.”

Today, Sambhab is all set to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “It is like a dream come true for me to interact with the Prime Minister who always encourages children,” said Sambhab.

Earlier, Sambhab received the felicitation for his exceptional achievements in the field of art and culture. He was among the 11 other awardees who won the prestigious award which is given for exceptional achievement in six categories namely Innovation, Social Service, Scholastic, Sports, Art & Culture and Bravery.

"Sambhab Mishra from Odisha, has written many noteworthy articles and books for renowned publications. He was bestowed with the prestigious “Fellowship of the Royal Asiatic Society, London”, the youngest ever fellow in the 200 years history of the society. My best wishes to him," tweeted Smriti Irani, Union Minister for Women & Child Development and Minister for Minority Affairs.

Every year, the Government of India acknowledges the exceptional achievement of children in the age group of 5 to 18 years by conferring the ‘Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP)’ upon them.

The awards are given to children for their achievements in 6 categories namely; Art & Culture, Bravery, Innovation, Scholastic, Social Service and Sports which deserves national recognition. Each awardee receives a medal, cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000, a certificate and a citation.
