Wedding anniversaries and birthdays aside, chances are that you would not be able to recall exactly what you were doing a couple of days back on any given date. But, this 12-year-old boy, Navneet Das from Odisha’s Balasore district is different.
Hailing from Mobarkpur in Balasore, not only he can tell in detail the date and day of any festival, he can tell you exactly which date will fall on which day in which year from 2007 to 2030. The genius boy is lovingly called the ‘Calendar Boy’ for his impeccable knowledge.
This apart, he also remembers the numbers of every train that are en route to Bhubaneswar from Balasore. Born with a speaking disorder until he was 6 years old, the little genius is one of only a handful of people in the world blessed with highly superior memory power.
Speaking to OTV, Navneet said, “I can remember all the days and dates from 2007 to 2030 and can name all the festivals and their dates and on which day they will fall from 2016 to 2023. I also clearly know the numbers of all the trains that run from Balasore to Bhubaneswar. I also know the names of all the stations.”
The little boy credits his grandmother for the knowledge he gained from calendar reading (panji). “My grandmother does calendar reading. So, it just happened to me and I remember everything now,” the boy stated.
“He was only around 1.5 years when he would sit near me when I did calendar reading. Astonishingly, he started to remember everything,” said the boy’s mother.
Similarly, the boy’s father said, “He could not speak until he was 6 years old. But, he has a brain like a computer and everything just gets printed on his head. He can recall everything that happened on any second of a day of any date in any year. He also remembers the birthdays, marriage anniversaries and other dates of people in our area. He can remember everything.”
