Straight out of any Bollywood movie based on a lost and found theme, a family from Tarapur village of Tilo Panchayat under Bonth block in Bhadrak district reunited with their son on Monday after a long gap of 12 years.

Sources said, Gajendra Jena, son of Basudev Jena, had left his house and gone somewhere for some reason. The sudden disappearance of Gajendra left the family members worried. Not finding him at the house, they searched for him at every possible place, but their attempts yielded no result.

Later, they lodged a missing report with the police. This too failed to bring them any solace.

Despite their best efforts, the parents couldn’t find any clue about his whereabouts. Leaving everything at the mercy of God, they decided to live the rest of their lives without their son.

But destiny had something good for them in store.

After a long gap of 12 years, their son arrived, leaving everyone surprised. The happiness of Gajendra’s parents knew no bounds. The villagers were too delighted to see the family reunion.

“After he went missing, we launched a frantic search for him at every possible place but didn’t find him anywhere. We spent days and nights crying. Now we are happy to get him back,” said Sulochana Jena, Gajendra’s mother.

“After getting back their son after 12 years, the happiness of the family members and the villagers knew no bounds. During that period, he was in Bengaluru where a person employed him. But he didn’t give him any money at the time of leaving for his village. I would like to say that a person should have humanity. His employer should pay something to him as his is a poor family,” said Sujata Jena, a social activist.
