Alleging no headway in the lady teacher Mamita Meher murder case, the family members of the deceased on Sunday reiterated their demand for a CBI probe.

The family members reiterated their demand before the newly elected Kantabanji MLA Laxman Bag who met them at their house at Jharani village under Turekela block in Bolangir district.

Deceased Mamita's father,  Surendra Meher alleged that the investigation into the case is not making much headway following the death of the main accused Gobinda Sahu in jail. He further alleged that though they have been demanding a CBI probe into the murder case, their plea so far has fallen on deaf ears.

"We need justice. After the death of Gobinda Sahu, there has not been much progress in the investigation process. Earlier, we had demanded a CBI probe into the incident several times. However, nobody listened to our demands," rued Surendra.

"I have requested our MLA Laxman Bag to provide a job to our son and he has assured us to provide all sorts of help in this regard," said Mamita's mother Tulashi Meher.

MLA Laxman Bag has assured the family members to take necessary steps to provide justice to them. He has also assured them to appeal to the Odisha government to initiate a CBI probe into the incident.

"As people of the constituency have elected me as their representative in the Assembly, my first duty is to give justice to the family members of Mamita Meher. I decided to meet Mamita's family members and discuss their problems. We along with the family members of Mamita have been demanding a CBI inquiry into the murder case. The previous government didn't pay any attention to the demands. I will urge the new Odisha government to initiate a CBI inquiry into the case," said Bag.
