In a tragic incident, a migrant worker from Kandhamal district, who had gone to Mumbai in search of livelihood, returned home with severed hands.

The migrant worker has been identified as Angada Malika. He is a resident of Dahalisahi village under Baliguda block.

As per reports, one Rabi Sahani from Bhagamunda village gave Angada an advance of Rs 8,000 and offered him a proposal to work in Mumbai.

Angada left home without informing anything to his family members and boarded a train to Mumbai. However, when he reached Mumbai, some miscreants launched an assault on him. Angada lost his sense in the process.

Mumbai police rescued Angada in critical condition and admitted him to a hospital. Subsequently, the police informed his family members who eventually brought him to the village. However, when Angada got back to his sense, he found to his utter shock that both of his hands were severed. The family members were also crestfallen after seeing Angada without hands.

The family members have lodged a complaint about the incident at Baliguda police station.

However, it is yet to be ascertained how Angada lost his hands. Kandhamal Collector has ordered an investigation into the incident. Assistant Labour Officer reached Dahalisahi on Sunday and asked Angada about the incident.

“When I reached Mumbai, some people attacked me. One of them hit my head hard and I lost sense in the process. When I got back my sense, I discovered me in a hospital and found to my utter shock that both of my hands were severed,” said Angada.
