Odisha CM-designate Mohan Majhi will take oath as Chief Minister of Odisha today. Even before being sworn-in as the CM, Majhi has assured that the double-engine BJP government will ensure all-round development and work towards addressing the grievances of the people of Odisha.

On Wednesday, the CM-designate displayed his humility when he approached a peon and enquired about his living condition. After hearing about his ordeal, Majhi assured him that his government would look into his issues.

“This government is of the poor and for the poor. Under PM Modi’s guarantee, our government is committed to ending the abject poverty of the poor and focusing on fulfilling their basic needs in our first five years, I assure you that,” Majhi consoled the peon who claimed that his meager wage wasn’t enough to feed his family and pay for the education of his kids.

He further said, “In the last 24 years, the government in power should have fulfilled the basic needs... Many cannot even afford a meal a day. So, people, especially the poor, have pinned high hopes on us and PM Modi’s double-engine government.”

“I promise that under PM Modi’s guarantee, we will try to fulfill all the basic needs of the poor. We will implement certain programmes for 100 days first after coming to power and monitor its progress,” Majhi added.

When asked about the first work he would take up after being sworn-in as the Chief Minister, Majhi stated that everyone would know about it very soon.

Who Was The Peon?

The peon has been identified as Bijay Kumar Dash, working at the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation Limited (OSRTC).

After meeting Majhi, Dash said that he was humbled by the CM-designate’s assurance and he is confident that his demands will be fulfilled.

Ending all speculations and permutations, Odia boy Mohan Charan Majhi was named BJP’s first Chief Minister of Odisha on Tuesday. His life journey from being a teacher at Saraswati Sishu Mandir to entering politics by becoming a Sarpanch to finally donning the CM’s hat is nothing short of an inspiration.
