The Orissa High Court has imposed a stay on the departmental promotion committee (DPC) in the Odisha Police Battalion on Thursday.

The High Court pronounced the stay order while hearing a petition. The next hearing of the case will be held on February 20.

It was alleged in the petition that seniority was being ignored during the promotion of officials in the Odisha Police Battalion.

The petition was moved by Deputy Commandant Bibhuti Bhusan Maharana and five others that their seniority was ignored at the time of promotion, citing that names of some officials even four years junior to them have been recommended for promotion, though the date of the DPC to be held has not been fixed.

The nominations of the junior officers would have been finalized at the next DPC meeting.
