Police arrested Ashok Dora, the former block chairman of Gudvela in Bolangir district on Saturday after he along with some of his supporters were charged with indulging in hooliganism in the block office on October 10.

Though five of his supporters were arrested earlier, Ashok was absconding after the incident. Ashok’s wife Baby Dora is currently the block chairman of Gudvela.

As per reports, Ashok along with his supporters had stormed into the block office on the evening of October 10. They allegedly picked up arguments with the block coordinator of Mission Shakti Nirmal Pradhan, who later filed a police complaint against them.

In the complaint, Pradhan accused Dora and his supporters of physical assault during the argument.

Acting on the complaint, police registered a case and arrested five of Dora’s supporters. However, Dora has been on the lam since then. After searching various places, Tusura police arrested him. Ashok was also in controversy earlier for indulging in hooliganism on the block premises.

Speaking to media, Ashok dismissed the allegation against him as false, saying he never attacked anyone. “It is a false case, which is politically motivated,” he added.
