A day after a few road romeos reportedly passed lewd comments and created a ruckus inside a ladies' hostel in Bhubaneswar, the Nayapalli police swung into action and detained four of them.

Based on CCTV footage, Nayapalli police detained the youths and are currently interrogating them. They will be produced in the court after being identified by the victims, reports said.

Police have also launched a manhunt to nab other members of the gang. The victims have lodged a written complaint against 10-12 youths. Police are also interrogating the accused youths who are also allegedly involved in many other such criminal activities and have several cases pending against their names.

The incident in the wake of the Commissionerate Police’s ‘safe city drive’ has come as a matter of serious concern.

According to sources, at least five youths allegedly passed lewd comments on a girl. When she objected, the youths reportedly stormed into her hostel and vandalized furniture and other property at around 10 pm on Friday before fleeing on high-speed bikes.

The girls have alleged that the youths also hurled stones at them and damaged TV and other items inside the ladies' hostel.
