Crackdown on Bhubaneswar bars: Owners to face action for flouting norms
In a recent crackdown, all the bars of Bhubaneswar were raided following complaints of violating the rules and guidelines.
As per reports, Excise department officials from different districts were mobilised to carry out raids on the bars in the Capital city. During the raids and inspection, two bars were allegedly found to be flouting the rules. These bars will be fined heftily and strict actions will be taken against them, informed sources.
During the raids, one of the bar owners misbehaved with the Excise superintendent following which the owner was arrested and a show-cause notice was served.
As per reports, all bars have been issued warnings to strictly comply with the laid guidelines.
“Bars which take permission will be allowed to stay open for extra hours as per the provision, but those bars must adhere to the conditions attached to the permit. As per the law, the bars should also ensure a safe working environment for female employees. In case of any mistreatment or exploitation of female employees, strict action will be taken against the bar and it could also result in the cancellation of the licence of the bar,” said Narsingh Bhol, Excise Commissioner.
