The suspected ‘spy pigeon’, which was recently seized by Paradip Marine Police in Odisha on Wednesday, will be sent to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) for examination. As per senior officials, the suspected spy pigeon will either be sent to CFSL Hyderabad or Kolkata.

Jagatsinghpur SP, Rahul PR on Friday said that, “We have not got any conclusive opinion and hence will send to central forensic lab for further examination.”

It is pertinent to mention here that the pigeon was caught from a fishing trawler in Puri district. The fishermen on the trawler named Sarathi at Ramchandi in Konark area in Puri district had caught the bird on March 6.

The pigeon was found to be tagged with a tiny spy camera and a chip what appeared to be a GPS tracking system. Subsequently, the Paradip Marine Police took the bird to Cuttack Pigeon Squad and tried to decode the secret and the coded message written in a foreign language in blue and red on the feathers of the bird.
