Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today hit out at the Centre for "inordinate delay" in grant of coal linkage for modernisation and expansion of the proposed 2x250 MW thermal power project at Barauni in Bihar.
"What to talk about getting special status to Bihar..we have problems in getting coal linkage for modernisation and expansion at Barauni thermal power project," he said at a function here.
The UPA government has been too hardpressed to deal with slew of scams surfacing one after another to deal with pressing demands from Bihar like coal linkage for the thermal power project at Barauni for which an all-party delegation had submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh last year, Kumar said.
"We are yet to get any response from the Centre about our request for the coal linkage and it appears that the same has got stuck in the 'Coalgate'," the chief minister quipped.
He said he had met the Prime Minister two months ago calling for his intervention in issuing a environment clearance letter for Urma coal block for exploration and use by the state government at Barauni thermal power expansion project for generation of additional power for consumption in Bihar.
Kumar said that his government was striving hard to improve the power scenario in Bihar amid growing demand of the commodity in recent years.
Russian Army units found three meteorite debris impact sites, two of which are in an area near Chebarkul Lake, west of Chelyabinsk. The third site was found some 80 km further to the northwest, near the town of Zlatoust.
