The Odisha State president of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Samir Mohanty on Saturday came down heavily on the ruling BJD government for its failure to implement several welfare schemes and yojanas of the Central government meant for workers engaged in unorganised sectors.

“For the betterment of workers engaged in unorganised sectors, the Centre has launched several yojanas. But the working community in the unorganised sector in Odisha have been deprived of the benefits of these initiatives thanks to the stumbling blocks put up by the BJD government,” alleged Mohanty.

The senior BJP leader on Saturday attended the unorganised workers’ conference organised in front of Nayapalli Durga puja pandal in Bhubaneswar as part of his party’s ‘Social Justice Fortnight’.

On the occasion, Mohanty engaged in interactions with workers, giving a patient hearing to their grievances.

Several workers expressed their dissatisfaction alleging government apathy towards their woes. They demanded for setting up of ‘Shramik Haat’ in Bhubaneswar, a fly over at Nayapalli to go from one side of the National Highway to the other side, health and education facilities, labour card, Ayushman Bharat card and land for landless workers.

On the other hand, the Sate Labour department’s reaction is yet to be obtained in this regard.
