A senior photojournalist in Odisha died in a tragic road mishap near Satasankha on Friday while travelling in a vehicle way to cover the world famous Rath Yatra festival in Puri.

The deceased identified as one Ashok Panda, was working as a photojournalist for a vernacular daily. He was on his way to Puri to cover the annual sojourn of Lord Jagannath. Unfortunately, he met with an accident near Satasankha and sustained critical injuries in the process.

Panda was immediately rushed to the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar. However, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

As per the hospital sources, Panda’s body will be handed over to his family members following post-mortem.

Panda belongs to Baisinga village in Mayurbhanj district. He was working for a local newspaper since 1996. He has left behind his wife and only daughter.
