Odisha Panchayat Polls: Villagers Make Sarpanch Aspirants Take Test, 3 Out Of 8 Pass; Know The Questions

As the Panchayat polls inch closer in the State, candidates, including those affiliated to different political parties or contesting independently, are leaving no stones unturned to woo voters.

In one of its kind of incident, as many as eight Sarpanch candidates from Kutra Panchayat in Sundargarh district had to appear in a written examination in order to win the confidence of the residents of Malupada village.

As per reports, the eight aspirants for the Sarpanch post in Kutra Panchayat had visited Malupada village for campaigning. However, the villagers insisted the candidates appear in a written examination so that they could decide which candidate is best suited for the job.

To this, all the aspirants agreed and took the test wherein they were required to answer seven questions. Interestingly, just three out of the eight candidates managed to pass the test.

Here are the seven questions put forth by the villagers to the candidates: 

• Introduce yourself
• What are your five goals as a Sarpanch candidate?
• What are your goals for the next 5 years, if you are elected as Sarpanch?
• If you are in politics for social work, write about the five welfare activities you have done so far? Will you be visiting door-to-door to solve the issues of the people with the same zeal you are hopping houses to seek votes for the Sarpanch post?
• How many villages, Wards and people are there in the Gram Panchayat?
• Write two lines about the previous Sarpanch of the Panchayat.

Needless to say, the villagers of Malupada will vote for one of the three Sarpanch candidates who have passed the written examination.
