Berhampur college students subjected to ragging, video goes viral

Despite a plethora of efforts by the college authorities, instances of ragging are rampant at several educational institutes in Odisha.

Recently, a purported video of a student of Binayak Acharya College in Berhampur ragging his juniors surfaced on the internet.

In the video, which has gone viral on various social media platforms, a student can be seen holding a plastic pipe and asking his junior- a boy and a girl- to act as a couple.

The senior student can also be seen abusing his juniors and thrashing the duo in presence of the other students.

Meanwhile, Badabazaar police has detained the prime accused in the case and launched a manhunt to arrest other students involved in the ragging incident.

The arrested student has been identified as Abhishek Nahak (24).

“The video was recorded yesterday. The junior students were subjected to ragging during lunch break. The main instigator has been detained. Another case is also pending against him,” informed Saravana Vivek M, Berhampur SP.
