At least 10 students at a primary school in Deogarh district of Odisha were critically injured on Friday after they were struck by lightning. 

Sources said, as many as 17 students were attending a lecture when lightning struck the Puturapasi school under Tileibani block leaving 10 students with severe burns.

Terrifying thunder accompanied by lightning flashes left a hole in the roof of the classroom. Ambulance was called in immediately and the students were taken to District Headquarters Hospital for treatment. 

It was raining heavily when lightning struck the school. The impact was so huge that 10 students became unconscious.

Condition of four students Niti Penthei, Babina Sahu Dharitri Sahu and Baby Daudi is stated to be very critical. Their hands and legs are not functioning properly following the mishap.
