A disturbing video of a young man dragging a dog along the road in Koraput town after tying it to a motorcycle with a rope has gone viral on social media, triggering sharp reactions from animal lovers and netizens alike.

In the viral video, the dog was seen being dragged behind the two-wheeler. However, it has not been ascertained whether the youth was treating the animal like that after its death or the animal died after being dragged on the road.

Whatever may be the case, this act of animal cruelty left social media users speechless. They demanded action against the youth for treating the animal in such an inhuman way under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.

Taking cognizance of the incident, the police have registered a case and launched an investigation.

Notably, a bull was punished inhumanly for entering a paddy field at Anasara village near Konark in Puri district in last month. A man allegedly put a heavy log around the bull’s neck before tying it to a tree.

In another incident reported from Mayurbhanj district in August, a horse cart owner subjected his horse to so much cruelty that it died after remaining thirsty for a long period.
