A popular singer died shortly after performing at a programme organised on the occasion of Durga Puja in Koraput district of Odisha.

The deceased has been identified as Murali Mohapatra. A clerk by profession at the Panchayat office and a singer by passion, Mohapatra's sudden death has once again brought to focus the rising cases of sudden heart attack.

Singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK had died in a similar fashion due to suspected cardiac arrest after his live performance at an event in Kolkata in June this year.

As per sources, Mohapatra was famous in the locality for his skill of singing in the voice of legendary singer late Akshaya Mohanty

There was a musical event organised at Rajnagar area in Jeypore town on the occasion of Durga Puja festival. Murali was part of the troupe invited to perform. When his turn came, he entertained the audience with ‘Jajabara Mana Mora’, one of the famous songs of Akshaya Mohanty. Moments before starting singing, he had sought an apology from the audience for not being able to do justice to the song due to ill health.

Immediately after his performance, the crooner complained of illness. The next moment, he fell off the chair and collapsed on the stage.

He was immediately rushed to the district headquarters hospital (DHH). But it was too late. The doctors declared him received dead.

As the shocking news broke, a pal of gloom descended on the locality.
