Bijnor (UP): Depressed over not having a son, a man today allegedly shot dead his wife and daughter, police said here.

Avneesh shot dead his wife Sona (25) and daughter Harshika (7) with his licenced revolver this morning, Dhampur Circle Officer Harendra Yadav said.

Avneesh has been arrested, Yadav said.

The couple had three daughters and Avneesh used to often quarrel with his wife over bearing a male child.
