PUBLISHED: LAST UPDATE:

The District Education Department has suspended her following revelations through an RTI inquiry that raised doubts about the authenticity of the documents.

Asharani Kar

The troubles of Asharani Kar, a teacher at Kakadaguda Government Upgraded High School under Kosagumuda block in Nabarangpur district, have deepened after allegations surfaced that she was employed using two separate B.Ed certificates.

The District Education Department has suspended her following revelations through an RTI inquiry that raised doubts about the authenticity of the documents.

Reports suggest that Kar was working with two B.Ed certificates, but it remains unclear which one is genuine and which is fake. During the suspension period, she will remain attached to the office of the Kosagumuda Block Education Officer and not be permitted to leave headquarters without prior approval.

While both the certificates carry her name and share the same issue date, they have different registration and serial numbers. Moreover, the signatures of the Controller of Examinations differ between the two documents. These inconsistencies have cast serious doubts over the validity of the certificates.

With the suspension now in effect, the future of her teaching career remains uncertain.

The woman teacher was accused of securing a teaching post using a fake certificate. Acting on the allegation, the District Education Officer (DEO) of Nabarangpur had asked the headmaster of the concerned school to furnish details regarding her B.Ed certificate.

In response, the headmaster submitted all documents provided by Asharani at the time of her joining. However, discrepancies were found between the B.Ed certificate she had submitted at the school and the one on record at the DEO’s office. Following this revelation, the DEO has suspended the teacher from service.

Asharani had initially worked as a Shiksha Sahayak in Nabarangpur district in 2012. In January 2013, she resigned from that post and joined Kakadaguda Government Upgraded High School as a teacher.

To verify the matter, the DEO had written to Andhra University in 2024 seeking confirmation of the certificate’s validity. However, no response was received from the university. After thorough scrutiny revealed that Asharani possessed two different B.Ed certificates, the District Education Officer proceeded to suspend her from her post.
