A detailed probe is underway.

Accused Deepak Rout being taken to court for production

In a chilling revelation in the traffic constable Subhamitra murder case, it has come to light that the accused Deepak Rout had kept her dead body inside his car parked right at the office premises of Commissionerate Police, immediately after the crime on 6th of this month.

Deepak was suspended on Thursday by DCP Bhubaneswar following his arrest in the murder case. The killer cop was arrested by Capital Police Station officials and produced in court later in the day, Twin City Police Commissioner Suresh Dev Datta Singh informed.

According to sources, Deepak had parked the vehicle with Subhamitra’s body inside the Police Seva Bhawan parking lot and remained there from around 3 PM to 4.15 PM — over an hour — while continuing his duties in office as if nothing had happened.

This indicates a disturbing level of planning, as the killer not only transported the body in his car but also calmly spent time in a high-security area without drawing attention. After completing his official duties, he reportedly drove to Keonjhar with the corpse.

The probe has taken a dismal turn with this new information surfacing, exposing serious lapses and raising questions on how such a gruesome act could unfold and the vehicle could be parked on a police campus without detection and without drawing attention.

“Deepak Rout was the suspect right from the beginning. However, despite the suspicion, no evidence was available. It is because, Subhamitra had expressed in one of her chat message (on a messaging platform) around two weeks ago (prior to September 6) that she was frustrated and had desired to hide somewhere,” the Police Commissioner stated.

“Initially we thought, perhaps she had gone incommunicado. As she was an ardent devotee of Krishna, we had to launch a manhunt at several religious places,” the top cop added.
