Jamshedpur: The Jharkhand government has plans to to promote Seraikela form of Chhau dance at international level, Chief Minister Arjun Munda has said. The Seraikela form of Chhau dance was yet to gain popularity at the international level due to lack of proper marketing, Munda said while interacting with media here on Saturday.

Several chhau dance experts from Seraikela in Seraikela-Kharswan district have been performing across the globe and helped attracting foreigners particularly from France and Germany to learn the art here, he said. Munda said the dance form has the potential to attract tourists and the state government has started organizing Chhau festival in Seraikela a few years ago.

The chief minister said the festival would attract more people after the completion of Adityapur-Kandra Road and Tata Steel`s proposed Greenfield airport in the district. The 14 km road between the industrial township of Adityapur and Kandra has begun, he said adding that the state government has proposal to develop good hotels as well in the district.
