Seasonal earaches are very common and there are simple home remedies that can be effectively used to treat them. Usually, after trying these remedies a couple of times, the earache either lessens or goes away completely.

However, if the pain or the ache does not subside, it is time to make a visit to your health expert. Below are a few home remedies to treat seasonal earaches:

Ice pack

Inflammation is usually the most common cause of seasonal earaches. Holding a damp washcloth, or ice pack for 15 to 20 minutes can help numb the area around the ear and reduce the inflammation thereby alleviating the pain.

Garlic

Garlic has been used for thousands of years to treat various health issues. It is considered to be the most natural remedy for treating earaches. Garlic contains Allicin which is known to fight bacterial infections effectively which can sometimes lead to earache. In many households even today, children are asked to eat raw garlic when they have earache. But make sure that you speak with your doctor about eating garlic if you are already on antibiotics.

Ear drops

It is again one of the most common solutions that is easily available over the counter. Ear drops are effective when the earache is caused due to clogging of wax and dirt. But those who have ruptured eardrums or have surgical tubes inserted should avoid using them.

Heating pads

Similar to a cold pack, a heating pad also is a good remedy for treating earaches. Holding a hot cloth or a heating pad against the ear can give you temporary relief by relaxing the muscles and improving blood flow. However, it is necessary to consult your health expert if the earache does not subside within a couple of days.

Neck muscles

Many times the neck muscles get tensed due to sitting for long hours on the computer or overuse of neck muscles. That is why your ear muscles also experience pain. In such cases, simple neck exercises can help reduce the discomfort. Repeating the same set of exercises for a few days will definitely eliminate the earache.
