Summer brings a lot of sweat, heat, and itchiness. But it also brings mangoes and cooler drinks. While it is obvious that you are eager to try out different varieties of mangoes this summer season, you should keep in mind that there are certain foods that you should never eat after you have consumed these wonderful and tasty fruits.


Curd, buttermilk, or lassi are especially consumed during summer because of their cooling effect. However, mango produces heat in the body. So when you eat curd after mangoes, it leads to a hot and cold effect which is not good for your health. It can cause several health issues like the formation of toxins, skin issues, and more.

Drinking water immediately after eating mangoes can lead to acidity and stomach aches. You should wait for at least half an hour to drink water after consuming mangoes.

Bitter Gourd

Who would like to break the taste of sweet mangoes by eating bitter gourd after savouring these delicious fruits? However, at times you eat bitter gourd vegetables as a part of lunch along with aam ka ras or panha. But that should never be done because eating bitter gourd immediately after eating mangoes can cause vomiting and nausea and in some rare cases it can also cause breathing trouble.

Chillies & Spicy Food

Some combinations are really very bad for your stomach. Usually in India dishes made from mangoes are often eaten along with fried and spicy dishes. For example, eating aam ras with puri or alongside pakodas is a common thing. But that should be avoided because it can lead to stomach upset.

Many times having such wrong combinations of snacks during lunch or dinner can cause chronic skin diseases.

Cold Drinks

Mangoes are high in sugar content. It is okay for patients with controlled diabetes to eat mangoes in moderation. But drinking cold drinks that are loaded with sugary syrups can prove damaging to health. Cold drinks immediately spike up blood sugar levels and they can prove dangerous for the health of diabetic patients.
