Death anniversary of Sridevi: When Bollywood diva refused big Hollywood project, got punched in stomach when pregnant

Today is the 6th death anniversary of Bollywood superstar Sridevi. The actress was found dead in a suspicious condition in her hotel bathtub on 24th February 2018 and was declared dead due to drowning in water. Sridevi is a legend who started her journey in the film industry at the very young age of 4 years. Apart from being a big star in the South Indian film industry, Sri ruled Bollywood during the 90s and was one of the highest-paid actresses in her heydays.

Refused to work in Jurassic Park

During the 90s Bollywood actresses did not focus on getting work from Hollywood. But Sridevi was such a big star that even the Western film industry wanted her to do their films. She had a big offer from none other than Steven Spielberg who had offered her a role in Jurassic Park. Being a very good and versatile actress, there was no doubt that the Lamhe actress would have nailed the character.

But she simply refused the offer stating that the role was not up to her stature as at that time she was the biggest female superstar of Bollywood. She even refused author-backed roles in movies like Baazigar and Darr since she wanted to do the roles played by Shah Rukh Khan and not the lesser versions played by Kajol and Juhi Chawla respectively.

Boney Kapoor’s mother punched pregnant Sridevi

Ram Gopal Varma who directed Sri in Kshana Kshanam in his post “My Love Letter to Sridevi’s fans’ wrote that Boney Kapoor’s mother always thought of the actress as a home breaker and never accepted the actress as her daughter-in-law. Varma even said that Boney’s mother publicly punched Sri in the abdomen in the lobby of a five-star hotel when the actress was pregnant with Janhvi Kapoor.

Boney Kapoor already was a married man with two children when he fell in love with Sridevi . That is why Boney’s family never accepted her in the household and always considered his first wife Mona as family. Even Boney’s children from Mona- Arjun and Anshula Kapoor grew separately with their mother and came closer to the producer after the death of Sridevi.
