This Hollywood action film accidentally became a Christmas hit and no one knows why! Know where to watch

Christmas 2024 is just one evening away and the spirit of the holidays is all upon us. With the chill of winter sweeping across most places, the warm comfort of home and family is the absolute must every person is looking towards at the moment.

One activity that suits such an occasion the most is watching movies, Christmas hits, to be specific. While films like ‘It's a Wonderful Life’, ‘The Polar Express,’ and ‘Home Alone’ are all-time favourites, one Hollywood high-octane action flick became a surprise Christmas hit and there is no specific reason as to why.

The film in question is none other than 1988’s ‘Die Hard’. Starring Bruce Willis as NYPD detective John McClane, ‘Die Hard’ features extreme stunts, explosions, fight and chase sequences, hostages, and terrorists. While none of these factors fit the Christmas theme, there may be a few reasons why exactly the film became a holiday classic.

The biggest reason why ‘Die Hard’ is considered a Christmas movie is perhaps because of its plot. It follows John McClane fighting off terrorists when they take several people, hostage, at his wife’s office on Christmas Eve.

The second reason is that the film is full of Christmas songs. Carol hits such as ‘Winter Wonderland,’ ‘Let it Snow!,’ ‘Christmas in Hollis,’ and ‘Ode to Joy,’ all are a part of the film’s background music, playing amid the heavy action. Further, the movie’s settings of snow-filled landscapes, people dressed up as Santa Claus, and shots of wrapped gifts, all give it an overall holiday vibe.

Although it is up for heavy debate, there is no denying that ‘Die Hard’ has become a fan favourite when it comes to selecting a Christmas movie to watch.
