Two big movies, Animal and Sam Bahadur released today. Animal opened to a massive response and even the reviews and reactions for Sam Bahadur are pretty good. The Vicky Kaushal movie is expected to pick up with word of mouth as the content is really good.
However amid all this fervour and frenzy, the trailer of Salaar: Part 1-Ceasefire that was released before the start of Animal went almost unnoticed. Although it did get a good response in the territory of Prabhas-Hyderabad, across India and the world it could not create much interest. It also indicates that triggering interest and attracting an audience to the theaters is not going to be easy for Prashanth Neel and Prabhas.
First, the movie is slated to release along with Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki. Secondly, SRK currently is the King of the box office after delivering massive hits like Pathaan and Jawan. To top it all, most probably, movies like Animal and Sam Bahadur that have released 20 days ago are also going to be in the theaters around the last week of December.
Looking at the enormous response that Animal received for its booking and on its first day, it is bound to keep the theaters occupied at least for a month. In such a situation, chances are that Salaar will struggle to attract the audience.
Usually trailer/teaser of big budgeted massy films are celebrated with whistles & cheer in theatre— Srkian Amit (@AmitRahang23234) December 1, 2023
But there was absolute silence from the crowd when the #Salaar teaser was played!

Essentially both Animal and Salaar are action-packed movies. Also, the characters played by both Ranbir Kapoor and Prabhas are violent. Of course, the storytelling style of Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Prashanth Neel is different.
Similarly, Ranbir Kapoor and Prabhas have a loyal fan base. Even then it may not be enough for Salaar and only a good story, strong punch lines, and fabulous teamwork by Prabhas, Neel, and Shruti Haasan can help the movie survive touch competition from Bollywood biggies like Animal and Dunki.
